Safe Environment Program Ms. Victoria Amoruso is the Seton manager of the Archdiocesan "Protecting God's Children" program. She may be reached via a message at the rectory - (914) 528-3547, or via email - vamarchsnow@aol.com. The Archdiocese of New York requires everyone who regularly works with minor children to submit an “Authorization for a Background Check” form (verifying name, address, social Security number, as well as national and state sex offender’s registry checks). We want our children to be safe and to feel safe here at Seton. Parents demand no less, nor should any parishioner! All Seton employees and volunteers are required to comply with this critical prerequisite to ministering to children. The forms are available in the rectory. If you are a leader of one of our parish groups and have employees or volunteers who want to work with our children, make absolutely certain they get, complete and return the “Authorization for a Background Check” form, available in the rectory. A one-time awareness session about preventing sexual abuse of children, including a half-hour "Safer Spaces" video, is an additional requirement for all Seton volunteers who work with minor children. A note from: Edward T. Mechmann, Esq. Director Safe Environment Office Archdiocese of New York 1011 First Avenue New York, NY 10022 646-794-2807 Our "Safer Space" training video can now be viewed online. Although we believe that the best practice is to have all your volunteers and non-professional employees view Safer Spaces at your location, you can also direct them to complete the training requirement online, if that is more convenient. The online training webpage, with full instructions on how to sign up and complete the class, can be found here: http://www.archny.org/pastoral/safe-environment-program/online-training/ . I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all the effort that you have given, to make this program a success. Your dedication and commitment have truly ensured that the children of the Archdiocese have a safe environment in which to grow and thrive May God bless you all!
Sincerely in Christ,
Edward T. Mechmann, Esq Whatever you do, do all to the glory of God." (1 Cor. 10:31) Remember protecting our children is everyone’s responsibility!
