Why Parents Choose Seton School |

About Our School...
- Opened September 1966 as part of the newly formed parish (1963)
of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton; staffed by the Sisters of Charity of
New York and Catholic lay faculty.
- Montessori-oriented pre-school and kindergarten began September
1969.
- School population:
- Pre-school: age 3 by September 1
- Kindergarten: age 5 by December 1
- Grades 1 through 8
- Usually two classes per grade
- Serving school districts: Lakeland (our home district), Brewster,
Carmel, Chappaqua, Garrison, Hendrick Hudson, Mahopac, North Salem,
Peekskill and Putnam Valley.
- Student ratio:
- Pre-school and Kindergarten — 2 teachers for 23 students.
- Grades 1 through 8 — 1 teacher for 25/30 students.
- Transportation:
- Busing available for Kindergarten through Grade 8 from local
public school districts within a 15 mile radius. Peekskill does
not provide busing.
- Christian values inculcated within each child throughout each
day.
- Daily prayer experiences along with monthly liturgical and paraliturgical
celebrations
- Sacramental preparation in first grade for Reconciliation and
Communion; grade 7 for Confirmation.
- Prepared environment based on respect for each person, place and
thing.
- Curriculum: strong in basic skill development, opportunities for
development of potential, learning experiences for thinking and
reasoning skills
- Academic and special areas of study:
- Religion, Reading, Spelling, Grammar, Composition, Math, Social
Studies, Science, Penmanship, Spanish, Music, Art, Computer, Library
and Physical Education.
- High expectations and strong standardized test results.
- Advanced Math class in Grades 7 and 8.
- Full-time nursing services.
