Why Parents Choose Seton School

Development of Faith:

Young children can know and experience God. Daily religion lessons will:

  1. Teach the basic truths of our faith
  2. Develop faith concepts and Christian values through Christian living, issues of morality including respect for life and concern for justice and peace
  3. Emphasize Sacred Scripture
  4. Encourage students to pray as well as experience the various forms of prayer and liturgical and paraliturgical celebrations.

Our Academic Goals:

The higher our expectations the greater your child's achievements. Therefore we endeavor to:

  • inspire each child's value of God and neighbor
  • stimulate in each child an interest and a desire to learn
  • encourage originality and creativity in thought and deed
  • motivate each child's academic achievements.
  • promote the development of realistic, personal goals
  • encourage a healthy concept of self and others
  • follow the Archdiocesan and N.Y.S. curricula for all subjects including Religion
  • Inculcate an attitude of respect for all persons, places and things as well as law and authority

Parent-School Association

All parents are expected to attend three meetings each year. If you cannot be present, a written or phoned excuse is necessary. This is our only way of insuring open communications.

The general agendas are:

September Meeting — Introduction of all teachers, setting goals for the year.
November Meeting —

Progress report evaluations, Family Prayer Service and Book Fair.

March Meeting — Teacher Recognition and Spring Report Cards.

Important information pertaining to the school and ultimately to your child will be discussed.

Fund-Raising

All families are expected to support all fund-raising activities. The participation highlights your interest in and dedication to Seton, and engenders our special school spirit.

School Policy

"Roman Catholic Schools in the Archdiocese of New York base not only their educational purposes, but all their activities on the Christian teaching of the essential equality of all men as rooted in the fatherhood of God, Christ's law and man's supernatural destiny. Thus, with discrimination so repugnant to their nature and mission, Catholic schools in this Archdiocese have not and shall not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration or educational policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school administered programs."

Together... we will enable each child to become more than he or she ever hoped to be...
Together...

we will place our children on the road to eternity—that road that leads to the Lord.
