Cardinal Dolan received a call from Archbishop Roberto Gonzales of San Juan, Puerto Rico seeking assistance with earthquake relief. As they are still trying to recover from the devastating effects of Hurricane Maria back in Sept. 2017, this earthquake and aftershocks have hit hard, especially in the southern part of the island. Caritas Puerto Rico is the Catholic relief agency leading the way and all funds collected in the Archdiocese of New York will be forwarded to them. Catholic Charities NY has arranged for a $30,000 donation. The Archdiocese of New York will add $50,000. However, the need, according to Archbishop Gonzales is very great. So, Cardinal Dolan is asking the parishes for help. Whatever you can donate would be much appreciated. Please drop a check made out to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church (MEMO: Puerto Rico Relief) in next week’s collection. We will send a parish check for the total collected before February 5th.
