The Charity of Christ Compels Us... 2 Corinthians 5:14
Msgr. Fogarty commissioned the windows in 1983. They are the work of Albinas Elskus, a Lithuanian-American stained glass artist who employed a mixture of metallic oxides and an old Walpole silver stain technique to create the images. They were fabricated at Rolf’s Studio, Mount Vernon.
This first in the series is called Wife and Mother. It depicts the young Seton family: William, Elizabeth, and their five children, Anna Maria, William, Richard, Catherine, and Rebecca at ease in their New York City home at 7 State St. The second panel depicts a colonial flag, and a drawing of Trinity Episcopal Church, Wall Street, frequented by the Bayleys (Elizabeth’s family) and the Setons (William, Elizabeth, and the children) at the turn of the 19th century. Notice the quote of Elizabeth, depicted in her own handwriting.
